DOWNLOAD TUTORIAL

Some files available for download on the Internet are in the .EXE format. They are usually self-installing or self-extracting files and are capable of installing themselves or decompressing the contained files onto your computer.

Many downloadable files on the Internet are available in the .ZIP format. The .ZIP format is a means of compressing one, or many files into a single, smaller-sized file - so it takes up less hard drive space and it's faster for you to download. But once you've downloaded a .ZIP file, you'll need to able to decompress it in order to access the original files stored therein. There are a number of Windows utilities that can be used for compressing and decompressing .ZIP files, but the one we recommend is WinZip. The 32-bit version of WinZip is available at http://www.winzip.com. You must install a .ZIP utility (like WinZip) before you can decompress any .ZIP file.

When you click on a file to download, your browser will ask you if you want to open the file or save the file. We recommend that you make a folder on your hard drive strictly devoted to saving your file downloads, something like C:\Downloads\ or similar.

Once you have a .ZIP utility such as WinZip installed on your computer, you'll be able to access the compressed files contained within most Internet downloads. Then you can access their contents - just find them in your designated download directory and double-click on them from MS Explorer.

After the compressed .ZIP file that you're interested in has been saved from the Internet into your download directory, simply double-click on it from Windows Explorer and your .ZIP utility will show you the contents of the compressed file. Then, simply double-click on the contained installation file (usually named setup.exe or install.exe) to install the software.
A Note about viruses: Unfortunately, there are some people out there who seem to derive some sort of pleasure by creating and distributing software than is capable of harming your system. The use of a reliable anti-virus and anti-trojan package, such as Kaspersky Labs Antivirus, is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Please install a reliable anti-virus package before downloading any software from the Internet.

Warning: getdate() [function.getdate]: It is not safe to rely on the system's timezone settings. You are *required* to use the date.timezone setting or the date_default_timezone_set() function. In case you used any of those methods and you are still getting this warning, you most likely misspelled the timezone identifier.
